Two companies team up to recycle your Halloween chocolate wrappers (December 12, 2012)
Nestlé Canada and TerraCycle have teamed up to do something about littered Halloween candy wrappers. From September 15th to December 31st, save and send your Nestlé chocolate and candy wrappers to TerraCycle, a company that turns litter into new and fun stuff and rewards donors with dollars for charities. Halloween is a prime time for littering millions of wrappers. (See Blog.) Give the Halloween Clean-Up Brigade your support and you could win $1,000. It’s completely free. All costs and shipping are covered by Nestlé Canada. Accepted waste: all brands of individual Nestlé Halloween chocolate wrappers and outer packaging. YOU can get a free Tim Hortons product if you are caught not littering downtown. The Downtown Biz and Take Pride Winnipeg have teamed up to launch a month-long anti-littering campaign to encourage Winnipeggers to stop littering downtown. The organizations announced that through November, its members will reward people they see throwing garbage into a receptacle. The reward? A $5 Tim Hortons gift card. The organizations also unveiled Metro Enviro Man, a cartoon character with anti-litter messages. As well, until Dec. 5, Metro Enviro Man is collecting pledges not to litter from people who then have the chance to win one of three entertainment prizes valued at $100.
