Clean up days are great, but it's better to just not litter in the first place.
People who litter believe it does not matter, in part, because they assume someone will clean up after them. While very worthwhile, well meaning and needed, clean up days aren't a real solution to littering. Clean up days don't solve the litter problem, they remove some of the mess of it. Our goal is to encourage everyone to stop the litter so that clean up days can become a thing of the past. The Litter Prevention Program attacks the root causes of littering by delivering education and important information in a memorable way to people of all ages.
Preschoolers in Belize clean up and beautify
Sept. 20/12: For National Service Day in Benque, they had a clean up campaign at Centennial Park. Thanks to the Benque House of Culture for documenting it. If only we could stop the littering in the first place, we could focus our community efforts on more pressing matters, like obtaining, painting, and installing trash cans. Unfortunately, this encourages the despicable action of littering. No more littering! |
