The first stage of Canada’s plastics ban is now in place. Here’s how it affects you  (December 22, 2022)
Editorial: We're always surprised when articles on this topic don't mention the word LITTER. Plastic of all kinds - including "single use" items like cigarette butts, coffee cups and chewing gum (edible plastic) - are the major items people litter abundantly and everywhere. As well as reducing/eliminating certain items why can't there be education and focused attention on persuading people not to drop plastic or any other waste on the ground? Litter is either thrown, blown or dropped. It's a problem driven entirely by errant human behaviour: the failure to properly contain waste. The topic of littering and responsible handling of waste needs to be thrust in the public's face at every opportunity. That won't be possible if journalists don't use the word litter in stories like the one above. Cities should send a pamphlet about litter to every door.

Friends,
I founded this site and spent ten years compiling news stories about litter, about the problem of and solutions to the littering of waste products.
I was diligent daily for most of that decade. Now I'm changing it up. Yes, I will post and I do hope you will check back to read what's here. The frequency and quantity of articles will be less, but the desire to share awareness about litter issues will always be strong. Our planet deserves our love and care. Garbage has a place -- in a container. There doesn't seem to be anything difficult to understand about that. People take liberties and shortcuts with waste, believing there's no harm done. This site and its bounty of coverage to the topic should tell you differently.     ~Sheila~
